Advanced Management and Leadership Programme
Advanced Management and Leadership Programme
Are you ready to develop your career by finding new insights, perspectives and ways of working? The RSM Advanced Management and Leadership Programme (AMLP) will help take your leadership abilities to the next level. Develop yourself, and develop your organisation.
Business demands true leaders, not just managers. The Advanced Management and Leadership programme developed by RSM Executive Education at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) is an intensive 11-day modular management programme taught in English that will sharpen your critical thinking skills and enable you to enhance your impact as a leader. Based on real issues, economic realities and global shifts and megatrends, AMLP will challenge the way you view yourself and the way your organisation operates. The programme requires you to take a step back from day-to-day tasks so that it can equip you with new skills and knowledge to adapt, thrive and succeed. With 11 days of classroom experience spread over three modules, and additional pre- and post-programme support and activities, this intensive journey will expose you to the best thinking in the field, and enable you to dramatically enhance your leadership skills and impact.
You’ll return to your workplace refreshed, re-energised, and ready to deal with any future challenges that come your way.
You can choose three from a range of four subjects that will equip you with the skills and knowledge to adapt, thrive and succeed: The Challenge of Leadership, Make Strategy Work, Rules for Effective Decision-Making and Finance for Senior Managers.
By participating in this programme you will:
- develop greater self-awareness and confidence in your own leadership style – how it works and why it works
- enhance and update your knowledge of key and trending strategic, financial and leadership concepts
- master leading-edge models and practices that you can apply immediately
- acquire new knowledge and insights from a network of peers
- gain entry to the benefits and privileges of RSM’s alumni network.
The Advanced Management and Leadership Programme at RSM offers a choice of four modules; leadership, strategy, executive decision-making and finance. You will follow three of these, taking 11 days in total. These elements combine to create an intellectually stimulating learning journey, and provide a set of tools that will help you develop the core elements of advanced leadership and management. The whole programme can be completed within six months, and you must complete the Challenge of Leadership module in order to gain your diploma.

"The programme was a great journey where I found new ways of working, working more efficiently, and got to know new people from all over the world. The programme is given by enthusiastic and driven professors and assistants who are very inspiring. Every course is very interactive and challenges you to participate when you can. Every senior district manager at Shurgard gets the opportunity to follow the programme at RSM. The reason that we choose RSM is simple: the programme is clear and has modules that you can use directly in your work. I’ve learned a variety of things that I can directly apply in my work, such as the models that can be applied, the new knowledge I learned from my co-students, and the new insights into my work and my way of working. The modules on strategy and decision-making gave me insight on how to look at what’s happening at our HQ. Now I can add suggestions for these specific projects and subjects. All these new insights and challenges mean my work is becoming even more inspiring than it was before!"
Diederik van Lieshout, senior operations manager, Shurgard Self Storage
“RSM’s AMLP programme provided me not only with a broad and refreshing perspective on business and management, but also on how to more effectively engage with a diverse community of stakeholders. This boosted my confidence in being able to achieve my goals and future challenges. Each module explored new insights and new thinking patterns, and how to effectively apply them in my job. The role plays, strategy and leadership modules were practical in helping me prepare for work scenarios, to structure and build a new high-level approach to a new marketing segment, and to improve my personal effectiveness. I learned as much from the latest academic insights as from engaging with the diverse participants. This dynamic combination ensured all of us took away new skills and knowledge that each of us could immediately apply to our own field of work.”
Steve Belgraver, business operations engagement lead, Vodafone Group Enterprise
“RSM provided a very pragmatic approach to helping business leaders deal with real, everyday issues and challenges. This gave me a hands-on perspective and tools I can use. The level and diversity of participants was especially energising and we could exchange different perspectives and views on the issues facing us. RSM’s location, reputation and experience contributed to a very positive learning experience, creating an atmosphere of trust that I regard as necessary for both learning and having fun!”
Robert Lahr, Head OEM Sales, Siemens Nederland nv
“A great learning experience! The programme combined new theoretical support and tools with discussions with like-minded professionals. I liked the different approaches within each module, the varied faculty and the focus on three core areas: leadership, finance and strategy. The modular flexibility suited me and it was good to network. Also, RSM’s reputation is appealing and delivered its promise. I’m certain that this will help me in my current role and support my development in the future.”
Jolanda Landman, Regiomanager, ArboNed
“I was looking for a top-class, internationally oriented management development programme, and I was interested in how a business school perspective could combine with the realities of business practice. I found the programme thoroughly met my expectations in both the quality of teaching and the usefulness of the tools provided. Expert faculty who knew their stuff provoked me to think and apply myself differently. I also enjoyed the variety of participants; it’s interesting to see how similar problems are approached within different industries.”
Ronan Potter, Partner Acquisition Manager, Jumio Inc.
