Why did you choose this MSc?
“At first I didn’t want to do my master in the Netherlands, as I wanted to be part of an international group of students. But then I learned about the new MSc Finance & Investments Advanced at RSM, and became very enthusiastic because of the highly qualified teachers, the close co-operation with many companies, the small size of the group of students, plus I expected this master to be very international. RSM also has a great reputation as a business school. So, in the end I found the ideal master for me in the Netherlands after all.”
How would you describe the programme and RSM?
“The programme comes with a high workload, and challenging but very interesting assignments. To work on assignments for actual companies together with a group of highly motivated co-students truly added value. At first I had to get used to the continuous discussions which took place between teachers and students as I never experienced something similar in my bachelor. This stimulates a faster development. RSM enables students to fully focus on studying as everything is organised well. This creates an environment in which students can excel in their studies. The programme manager plays an important role in the organisation, making our lives as students much easier.”
What was the biggest challenge in this master?
“Often we, the students, got a lot of freedom for assignments in the sense that there was not just one correct answer but we had to be creative. For example, we had to come up with a new product ourselves and back this product up with solid arguments before presenting it. Normally there is always just one correct answer to all assignments students get, so this was a definitely a big change. In the beginning, we sometimes had very little time for the execution as we were spending so much time on brainstorming. It was a valuable learning process to go through as it is representative of situations you will experience in a future career.”
What made the greatest impression?
“The dedication of all my fellow students, their motivation to reach for the highest in not only their studies, but in everything. As a result, everyone kept pushing each other and made sure everyone would always give it their best.”
How did your studies at RSM shape your career?
“Through my studies at RSM I learned more about the various career opportunities, with especially the internship giving me a deeper insight in the industry that I will soon start to work in. I also feel my studies prepared me well for my first job. I hope to keep developing myself at a fast pace and grow further in my role within Rabobank.”
