Why did you choose this MSc?
"After finishing my BSc in accounting and finance where I majored in accounting, I wanted to pursue an MSc in finance to enhance my financial knowledge. RSM’s MSc Finance & Investments Advanced is the most practical finance master programme in the Netherlands, with a curriculum comparable to those of the best master programmes in Europe, and all this for a highly competitive price."

How would you describe the programme and RSM?
"It’s a very challenging but also fun programme. Its advanced academic courses with top tier, highly respected, lecturers in the Netherlands aim to enhance our hard skills. Its living management cases test our knowledge in practice, making the programme highly practical. On top of that, it included skills training workshops, personalised career development, study trips, and a dedicated corporate network."

What was the biggest challenge in this master?
"The biggest challenge was the workload, which was substantially higher compared to other master programmes in the Netherlands. Most of us were perfectionists but at some point we realised that there wasn’t enough time to do everything perfectly. So we had to allocate our time in a way that the results in every project were sufficient. Remember I was coming from an accounting bachelor. Compared to my classmates, this made some courses like valuation or financial analysis easier for me, but I experienced difficulties in more finance courses, such as investments or risk management."

What made the greatest impression?
"The living management cases. Testing the academic knowledge in practice to come up with solutions was very interesting and steepened our learning curve. Also, providing 40 finance students with a chance to test their knowledge in practice and compete with each other turned out to be more fun than expected. The inner competition stimulated our creativity, leading to out-of-the-box solutions and amazing presentations."

How did your studies at RSM shape your career?
"Before I went to RSM, I was studying accounting, which although it is extremely important to know was too much repetitive in term of work tasks. Through the MSc Finance & Investments Advanced, RSM gave me the opportunity to change my subject to finance and also get an internship in corporate finance at ABN AMRO. Also, moving abroad to study in such international and diverse university broadened my mind and created new future paths for me."

What are your future plans?
"I’ll continue working abroad and launch my career in an international environment, as well as travel a lot to see new places, meet new people and gather new experiences."
