Why did you choose this MSc?
“After my bachelor degree in economics, I wanted to continue my academic career in a slightly more applied, yet still scientific setting. After some research, I found that RSM’s MSc in Marketing Management offered exactly this: an excellent MSc degree that combines academic theory with applied business examples. The programme is very versatile in this sense. Also, the reputation of the school and the programme is, both in the industry as in the academic world, very respectable.”

How would you describe the programme and RSM?
“It’s an intense but diverse and rewarding programme that contributes greatly to your future. It offers excellent and essential marketing courses, and the opportunity to specialise in the field of your own interest with the wide range of electives to choose from. This allows you to customise part of the MSc degree to your own ambitions. Also, the students in the programme are fun and very motivated, allowing you to get the most out the programme and beyond.”

What was the biggest challenge in this master?
“The biggest challenge in this master is keeping up with the workload. To keep up with the material you have to work efficiently – both individually and in teams – and plan your time wisely. In the beginning, I often was stuck doing one task too long and as a consequence got in time trouble finishing the other assignments. The solution to this is plan efficiently and work closely together with your teammates.”

What made the greatest impression?
“The Marketing Management Honours Programme. It challenges students to discussion several innovative marketing topics in terms of the importance in academic work and the application in real-life business environments. I was very impressed with all the speakers from the industry presenting at the conferences. The honours programme was a very rewarding experience!”

How did your studies at RSM shape your career?
“I’ve always been interested in research, but it was only until I joined RSM that I became passionate about it because of many inspiring conversations and discussions I had with faculty members. All the professors are very approachable, helpful, and open to ideas. The motivating academic environment of RSM’s Department of Marketing Management gave me the confidence to apply for a PhD position at London Business School.”

What are your future plans?
“I’m currently a PhD-candidate at London Business School’s marketing research department. My research mostly focuses on markets, entrepreneurs and employability in developing countries. I hope to be able to continue doing research, and in the long run hopefully with a position at a university as assistant professor.”
