Why did you choose this MSc?
“My background being in advertising and marketing communications, I wanted to broaden my knowledge with a master in marketing. After extensive research into various programmes around Europe, RSM's MSc impressed me with its impeccable reputation, thoroughly thought-out curriculum, and the possibility of individualising the programme with electives, creating a course plan that suits your interests and plans for the future.”

How would you describe the programme and RSM?
”The programme is a good mix of ensuring a strong base of basic marketing knowledge, and giving you the chance to specialise in the areas that interest you the most. In each course, the professors make sure you master the theory but they don't stop there – there are always challenging individual and group projects that give you the chance to put that theoretical knowledge into practice. One of my favourite things is the fact that discussion is always encouraged, and any idea is seen as valid and worth listening to.”

What was the biggest challenge in this master?
“For me, as cliché as this might sound, the biggest challenge was the thesis. I’m not naturally drawn towards academic research, and had never done anything similar previously. As challenging as it was, and even though there were several times throughout the year when I was extremely frustrated, I ended up learning a lot and being very proud of myself. But I’m not going to lie – I’m glad that’s behind me!”

What made the greatest impression?
“It was, hands down, the people – both the faculty and my classmates. The former were professional and approachable at the same time, always willing to talk to you, help you and lead you towards becoming a better marketer. The latter were a group of wonderful people from all over the world, with an array of different backgrounds, who were a pleasure to talk to inside and outside of a classroom.”

How did your studies at RSM shape your career?
“I both learned a ton and grew as a person and as a marketing professional during my year at RSM. So, when I went back into advertising after finishing my degree, I came back more confident in my role – I feel like I can contribute more in the workplace and I’m more likely to speak my mind. In short: it helped me become better at my job.”

What are your future plans?
“Right now, I work at one of the largest and most exciting advertising agencies in the country, and I feel like there is still so much that I can learn here about advertising, brands and strategy. The short-term plan, therefore, is to stay where I am and become the best I can be in my current role. And after that – who knows? Anything is possible.”
