Why did you choose this MSc?
“After my BSc in International Business Administration I was sure I wanted to specialise in supply chain management. In a variety of rankings I repeatedly spotted RSM among the top schools so I had a closer look at this programme. Studying courses covering theory as well as practically oriented components in a highly international environment constituted an optimal environment for further personal growth.”
How would you describe the programme and RSM?
“The workload is really high. But RSM’s stimulating environment helped me to perform in the best possible manner: a class full of ambitious students of different backgrounds made working in groups particularly interesting. Combined with the exceptional support from our professors and supervisors it facilitated the creation of a spirit that was unique. In addition, the variety of courses in the programme complemented each other extremely well, so that you can attain a complete picture of the whole supply chain bit by bit. The opportunity to select from a variety of electives and to conclude the MSc with a company-based master thesis project gave me the freedom to set my own focus and to develop my own areas of interest.”
What was the biggest challenge in this master?
“The high workload lasts throughout the whole year. And, the diverse backgrounds of the students made it sometimes necessary to spend some additional hours on topics that were more difficult for me than for some of my classmates. Similarly, the difference in backgrounds also imposed some challenges during group work: expectations varied significantly so that finding alignment was sometimes difficult. However, the high diversity of the group generally made my time at RSM more interesting rather than just challenging.”
What made the greatest impression?
“The people! The class is consisted of a multitude of people with various backgrounds and experiences. People are curious to learn from each other and to enjoy the time together. I definitely made friends for life during my time at RSM. On top of that, the professors and all university employees create a friendly and nice atmosphere in which it is easy to get along. So, my experience was that the people first made the time in Rotterdam extremely worthwhile and enjoyable.”
How did your studies at RSM shape your career?
“My studies at RSM shaped my career mainly in two ways. First of all, RSM helped me to find out in which area I would like to seek my fist position, which was procurement in my case. Secondly, I got equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to move forward. This is not only about the knowledge obtained in the courses, but also includes the experiences made in RSM’s international work environment. So, I directly felt comfortable in my first position, which is also due to my studies.”
What are your future plans?
“I’d like to further develop personally and professionally. Taking responsibility for interesting projects and drive change throughout the organisation is particularly appealing to me. I’m also looking forward to experience more cultures while travelling and working abroad in the future.”
