Dual degree programmes

General Information

RSM students looking for an even more challenging academic experience and who are interested in gaining two master’s degrees from two top business schools may participate in the Dual Master Degree in Management (DM²). The DM² is a programme of approximately 2 years in duration, depending on the length of the partner school programme. Students write a combined master thesis; and complete one master’s programme at RSM and another master at one of three renowned European institutions, and ultimately earn two separate master degrees.

  • ESADE (Barcelona, Spain);
  • University of St. Gallen (Switzerland);
  • Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi (Milan, Italy).

FAQ

Am I eligible to apply for the Dual Degree in Management (DM2) programme?

Minimum eligibility criteria for the DM2 programme for RSM students are as follows:
1. You must be admitted to and already enrolled in a one-year RSM master programme at the time of application to Dual Degree.
2. You must have a minimum weighted average grade of 7.0 (or equivalent) for your Bachelor programme.
3. You must meet and be able to provide evidence that you meet the specific language criteria for your preferred destination(s) as indicated in the DM2 brochure;
4. You must provide strong motivation for the programme.

Currently, RSM students may apply for a place at one of three partner schools, which are Università Bocconi in Milan, Italy, University of St.Gallen in St.Gallen, Switzerland, and ESADE in Barcelona, Spain. These business schools and universities are, like RSM in the Netherlands, premiere institutions in their respective countries.

RSM students begin by applying for and enrolling in a one-year RSM master programme as a stand-alone programme. During the master by the application deadline in January, a student may apply to pursuing their chosen second master programme at one of the DM2 partner schools, and then spend a second year abroad pursuing the second programme at the partner school.

In total the programme consists of 120 ECTS, of which 60 ECTS (including the thesis) are completed at RSM. Students will complete the programme with a combined thesis of at least 20 ECTS.

At the time of application, students need to show proof of a certain language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference of Languages (CEFR). The required CEFR levels will vary depending on the destination school as well as the chosen programme at that school and in most cases a higher level will further be required at the time of beginning the partner programme than what will be required at the time of application. For specific requirement, please see the latest DM2 brochure.

As a DM2 student, you are exempt from the tuition fee at the partner university, which means that you will pay tuition as a student of Erasmus University Rotterdam for the entire duration of your studies (while you study here at RSM, and while you study abroad). Further, studying abroad involves additional costs, such as costs of language courses, visa and insurances, your flight and other travelling expenses.

Students with EU or EEA nationalities (including candidate members), or with official status of refugee, stateless person or permanent resident in these countries, may receive the Erasmus Grant (part of the EU’s Lifelong Learning programme) when studying in one of these countries. Private or external grants, funds or scholarships are presented to exchange students outside Europe. Please note that Switzerland does not participate in Erasmus+, however students going to St. Gallen in Switzerland may make use of the Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP).

Application & Selection

Every year, 12-15 RSM master students are selected to participate in the DM2 programme. Students are selected based on several criteria, including excellent study results, study progress within the nominal period, language skills and solid motivation. Students must have obtained a minimum weighted average grade of 7.0 by the time of application.

The DM2 programme may be pursued with one of the following RSM master programmes as the first of the dual degrees:

For complete information about the DM2 programme, selection criteria, and application, please refer to the DM2 brochure.

MBA Exchange

Welcome MBA students!

The International Office at RSM which facilitates the exchange programmes on both Bachelor and Master level, works closely together with our colleagues responsible for the MBA exchange programme. We operate from two locations at RSM's main campus: the bachelor and master exchanges in the Mandeville Building (T) Building. MBA exchange activities take place in Bayle (J) building.

Establishing a global network of peers, lifelong friends and contacts is a key benefit of RSM’s International Full-time MBA programme. One of the many ways in which we ensure you establish both global networks and international experience during the programme, is by offering you the chance to take part in an exchange at one of the top business schools with which RSM maintains a close relationship.

Information about exchange partner schools, available seats, is made available during the first term of your MBA programme at RSM.
MBA students will then get access to an internal website containing the relevant application and selection information.
