The Advanced Management and Leadership Programme at RSM consist of  four core modules and an impact project that need to be completed within a year. These elements combine to create an intellectually stimulating learning journey, and provide a set of tools that will help you develop the core elements of advanced leadership and management. Alongside the core modules is a personal impact project to consolidate what you learn by addressing a challenge or opportunity in your organisation. You’ll be mentored by our expert faculty. Choose your final elective to suit your current situation or development goals.

Learn how to bring out the best in yourself and others using a relationship-centric leadership approach. You will focus on the core skills you need to engage others, resolve apparently intractable dilemmas, create rapid change and unlock the collective intelligence within your organisation.

You learn specific tools to improve your ability to make clear choices and informed decisions. You will learn how to choose, prioritise and implement business strategies so they become action plans for teams and individuals. Know what your business is worth and why. Learn to truly understand not only the crucial financial information within your business but also the implications of the decisions you must make. You will upgrade your understanding of finance issues which will enable you to set the right objectives at strategic levels and to create smart incentives that will deliver desired results.

Learn to understand and diagnose change, lead change, and implement change - by learning more about the change management process. This programme focuses on practical tools and theoretical foundations, as well as a confidential and safe forum for you to learn and exchange experiences.

Elective modules

The four core modules and the impact project are mandatory. After the four core modules, you will choose between one of the following elective modules: Leading with PresenceLeading with Decision-Driven AnalyticsStorytelling for Business Success  and Digital Strategy.

You and your fellow participants are managers, directors and leaders of divisions or brands. You have a foundation in management experience and five years of managerial experience. You have responsibility for profit and loss and are involved in strategic decision-making. You will also benefit if you have been in a senior management position for some time and need to refresh or enhance your capabilities.


Participants will learn as much from each other as from the faculty. To ensure a diverse and high-quality group, all applicants to the programme will be required to undergo a short intake discussion with an RSM staff member. This way we can guarantee that the programme is suitable for you.

You should comply with the following requirements if you wish to take part in the Advanced Management and Leadership Programme:

You have a minimum of 5 years of managerial experience


You have profit and loss responsibility


You are involved in or have responsibility for strategic decision-making process in your organisation.


Your application will be final once we have informed you on the basis of the intake call that your application has been accepted.

A team of RSM’s expert faculty teach the Advanced Management and Leadership Programme; they are listed below and you will usually take classes with at least two of them, depending on which modules you choose. Occasionally we may substitute other faculty members according to the content of the programme and their availability.

Prof. Tom Mom

Tom Mom is professor of strategic growth and implementation at RSM, and academic director of RSM’s Executive MBA programme. His expertise is at the crossroads of strategic management and entrepreneurship, and includes strategic renewal, strategy execution, scale-ups, and ambidexterity. In addition to research, he teaches strategic management and entrepreneurship in RSM’s executive education, PhD and MBA programmes, and carries out advisory projects on strategic renewal for companies and governments plus new business development, strategic growth, scaling-up, and strategy implementation. His research has appeared in leading academic journals and managerial journals.

Prof. Justin Jansen

Justin Jansen is professor of corporate entrepreneurship at RSM. His award-winning research and publications provide new perspectives into the roles of leadership, start-ups, organisational ambidexterity, corporate entrepreneurship, and new developments to improve long-term viability and performance. Justin is scientific director of the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship, and is on the editorial board of several academic publications. He is also a consultant, speaker, and advisor to various companies and government agencies. He has developed management training in how organisations can identify and implement new growth paths, strategic leadership, and combine innovation and operational excellence.

Prof. Dirk van Dierendonck

Dirk van Dierendonck is a professor of HRM, organisational psychologist, and dean of faculty at RSM. He also co-founded the Erasmus Centre for Leadership. Dirk’s expertise includes servant leadership and leadership development, wellbeing, happiness and burnout. He encourages people to become the best they can be, using an evidence-based approach grounded in psychology and management. His research has been published in leading journals on management, organisational behaviour and human resource management. Dirk translates academic knowledge into practical tools for HR professionals, such as EU-funded projects about cultural diversity, age management and artful leadership.

Eline Peeters

Eline Peeters is a senior trainer and executive coach with a broad expertise in the fields of leadership, personal effectiveness and communication. She believes that development starts with consciousness and is nurtured by experience. That’s why she finds focus on both awareness and experimentation essential. Eline facilitates and challenges people to expand their comfort zone in matters of leadership by using appreciative inquiry and curiosity. She searches for what drives behaviour by exploring convictions and values.

Prof. Michael Page

Michael Page is professor of finance and management at Bentley University in the USA, and an extraordinary professor at Stellenbosch University Business School in South Africa. His expertise is in management education, and in finance; measuring corporate value and risk, assessing portfolio performance and efficiency, ordinary equity research, and corporate finance. Throughout his 35-year academic career, he has applied his expertise through commercial consulting and leadership, and in business school life within the public and private sectors. He has held several strategic leadership and management positions. Michael serves on advisory boards for seven education institutions.
