Funding organisations expect the applicant to have an appropriate and adequate financial administration. You are obliged to monitor and control the budget’s progress and make financial reports according to the rules and regulations of your funding organisation. Particular requirements are listed in the financial guidelines, but as a general guide, you need to keep records of salaries, travel, subsistence or consumable expenses. Project Control can give you reports of your expenditure and remaining budget.
ERIM regularly organises funding workshops for specific funding programmes, such as the NWO VENI and VIDI scheme, and Marie Curie fellowships.
Researchers are invited to attend the workshops, which explore procedures and criteria for funding, and provide useful feedback and suggestions from laureates and experienced evaluators. Organising test interviews is another of the services offered. You can find out more about them in the ERIM Funding Newsletter.
Class sizes range between 12 to 24 people, but it does depend on the programme.
We aim for a balance between allowing for capacity to help ensure individual attention and achieving a good group dynamic and networking opportunities.
Parking is available in the Erasmus Plaza car park on campus (C5 on the campus map, mentioned above). In the car park, please park near Exit 1 or Exit 2, because these are the closest to Bayle building.
We will validate your parking card at the end of each school day to cover the cost of parking throughout your programme.
Students who are enrolled in the 18 month MSc International Management/CEMS programme will pay tuition for the months they are enrolled. For more information, please see the website of the Erasmus Student Service Centre (ESSC).
Je kunt ons telefonisch bereiken via 010 - 408 2548 of stuur een e-mail naar parttime-bedrijfskunde@rsm.nl.
Occasionally we hear from professors that they have been approached by students or visiting exchange students with the request to receive an extra exam opportunity, or a replacement assignment. In the event that you are contacted by an IBA or BA student who cannot comply to the general rules as a result of personal circumstances, please advise him/her to speak with a student adviser. The student advisers will, depending on the nature of the circumstances, consult with the Examination Board to find a possible solution. When deemed absolutely necessary the Examination Board may approach course coordinators with a request to prepare a special replacement assignment or to provide an additional exam opportunity. Your cooperation in those circumstances is greatly appreciated.
Visiting exchange students are asked to go through different channels with such requests, namely via the International Office instead of the student advisers. All visiting exchange students have access to the IBA academic calendar (including examination dates) before they plan their trip abroad and upon arrival they receive the following information from the International Office:
This information is simply to inform you about our policies and regulations and to let you know that you do not need to handle these special request cases on your own.
Enorm! The official examination schedule together with an overview of important deadlines per course are made by Programme Management during the summer months and are available before the start of each academic year. This deadline overview (which can be found under the Resources section, includes examination dates, deadlines for submission of examinations to the department of Exam Administration for copying, and deadlines for turning in grades.
IBA and BA Programme Management can arrange (upon request) for door guards ('suppoosten' in Dutch) to be present in front of lecture halls before and during the first hour of a classe to prevent students from entering late and disturbing the group. The guards will either prevent late students from entering until the break (45 minutes after the start of the lecture) or they can be asked to let groups of late students in at certain intervals (for example all at once, 15 minutes after the start of the class). In the IBA programme this service is primarily used for the the first year courses, and only on a sporadic basis, but it is available upon request for other courses. In the BA programme the door guards are reserved for a few lectures for almost every course (but requests for a different set-up can also be made).
It is important to note that there is a price tag attached to this service, so teaching staff members who prefer to not have door guards for their course (or for certain lectures) are kindly asked to inform Programme Management about this.
Our policy regarding spam from students (via emails, mailings via the Blackboard mail tool, etc.) is outlined as follows:
What is considered spam?
• messages that could be seen as undesired by recipients
• messages with commercial purposes
• messages with shocking or otherwise inappropriate content
• messages that request help or participation in research or data collection, such as for a Bachelor or Master thesis.
What are the penalties for spamming fellow students?
• The minimum penalty for spamming students involves blocking of your ERNA account access for one week.
What alternative is there for students who need assistance and responses in the context of their thesis research?
In an effort to help students in their thesis research, we have established a dedicated SURVEY CHANNEL on SIN-Online. Students may subscribe to this channel and, in so doing, specifically indicate their own interest in receiving news and requests about participation in fellow students' research.
Final grades should be submitted to the department of Examination Administration after the perusal and in accordance with the deadlines as outlined in the Courses & Deadlines overview.
The MS Excel document that the professor must use to turn in the final grades is typically sent to the course coordinator 1 day before the examination. If for some reason the coordinator does not receive this sheet, then it is available upon request via the EA’s email address. e.rsm@oos.eur.nl
All final grades must be submitted on paper (with the professor’s signature) to Examination Administration, Room EB-29, and by e-mail e.rsm@oos.eur.nl . Please cc your Programme Manager to this mail!
Once both the email and hard copy of the grades have been delivered to the EA they are typically processed within one week. Once the grades appear in Osiris they are considered finalized.
If teaching assistants are used for a course, it is possible to have them participate in a basic didactical methods course. This training course, given by Risbo, can be arranged prior to the start of the course / trimester. If all of the participants are teaching assistants for the same course, the possibility exists to tailor the didactical skills training to the specific nature and needs of the course.
If you would like Teaching Assistants for your course to be receive this didactical skills training course prior to the start of your course, please make a request to Programme Management at least two months prior to the start of your course. Your Programme Manager will then look into the available options together with Risbo.

The SR (Student Representation) representatives will contact the course coordinator at the end of the trimester to schedule a final meeting. Although the SR works independently and is entirely student-run, Programme Management takes the SR reports into consideration when evaluating courses and encourages teaching staff members to meet with the course representatives on at least one occasion. After the report has been approved by both parties, the student representatives will send their final report to Programme Management and it will be discussed during the course evaluation with the teaching staff members.
Each academic department receives payment for the courses that their staff offer in the BSc BA and IBA programmes.
Each course is reimbursed (via payment to the academic department under which it falls) by Programme Management (BA or IBA). More information about course compensation can be requested via Jannet van der Woude (Executive Director BSc BA) or Adri Meijdam (Executive Director BSc IBA).
Schedules for the upcoming academic year are generally made in the months of March and April and finalized in May and June. Typically Programme Managers use the previous year’s schedule as a starting point, but there are no guarantees that a course can be given each year on the same day and time.
The scheduling process takes place as follows:
February – April: Programme Management devises concept schedules and submits requests to Facility Services before the first of May. Any changes/requests that were discussed during the previous year’s course evaluation are also taken into consideration when the concept schedules are created.
May –June: Programme Management receives an overview of conflicts from Facility Services and tries to work out acceptable alternatives for students and staff alike.
July: Schedules are finalized and are published on SIN-Online.
